"Students and their Parents facing school bus frustration." By Amisha Padini Around the island students and parents are getting frustrated with school buses. On the first day of school Michael Loritio ( only seven years old), was handed a half price metro card in school. His mother was very upset. The start of the new school year came with a slew of odd school bus assignments. Kindergardener Nicholas Sirota had a two and a half bus ride from his Prince's Bay home to PS 60. After so many complaints his parents moved him onto a twenty five minute route. A young eight year old has to walk 12 blocks everyday because his school has a policy that the DOE has assigned. No taking the school bus after eight years old. The principal is fighting for that but can't seem to get anywhere. An eleven year old has to walk eight blocks then take three city buses to get to his school in Graniteville.
My opinion on this whole thing is its ridiculous. Their risking little childrens lives for stupidness. I mean I don't take the bus because my parents don't work at the times i get out but still its unexpectable. I think that school buses should take all children no matter what grade in elementary school. Because this is how things happen. Young children on the street with rapists, murderers, and other psychos is so dangerous. And their too small to have cell phones. This is how things happen. I think its really dumb.
